Un inizio non male per la saga che ha aperto le porte alla Bardugo. Il sistema magico da lei creato mi è piaciuto abbastanza, così come questo famigerato regno Grisha, anche se nel primo volume della trilogia ancora viene esplorato poco. Alina, la protagonista, segue un pò lo stereotipo del suo genere: la ragazza un pò "sfigata", orfana, che scopre di avere il più prezioso e raro dei poteri e di essere una qualche sorta di Prescelta. Il cattivo ha in effetti un suo fascino, ma il suo piano malvagio fa un pò acqua da tutte le parti. La storia d'amore è carina. Lo stile dell'autrice è scorrevole e descrittivo al punto giusto. L'originalità e gli spunti interessanti ci sono e spero che vengano sfruttati di più nei prossimi volumi.
